Trump: Rejected Iran's Proposal to Reopen Strait of Hormuz, But Expects U.S.-Iran Talks to Resume This Week

    Economic Daily News, 28th exclusive report: U.S. President Trump, in a phone interview with news website Axios, stated that he has rejected Iran's recent proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, but expects U.S.-Iran talks to resume this week.

    Trump said that if it were a year ago, the United States might have agreed to the deal Iran hoped to reach, and added that Iran has "gone too far this time."

    Earlier on Sunday (27th), Iran said it was awaiting a U.S. response to a proposal aimed at reopening the Strait of Hormuz within seven days, and stated that it would not ease its conditions after Trump rejected Iran's latest proposal. (yc)
