After the world collapsed and returned to silence, the body became the universal language of communication and action. The forces of nature gave birth to new life forms in the new world; through their bodies, they embark on a journey in search of the 'anima mundi' (world soul), weaving a contemporary myth about rebirth.
'Rebirth in the Sky' is directed and choreographed by Bence Vági, a pioneer of contemporary circus in Hungary. He stays true to his signature 'cirque danse' style, fusing modern dance, circus skills, and theatrical elements into a single entity. With body-defying movements, he crafts a poetically charged circus-dance work.
Performed by Recirquel Cirque Danse, a Hungarian contemporary circus arts troupe, the piece made its world debut at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe to great acclaim. It has been selected by the Hong Kong Performing Arts Expo jury as one of this year's international highlights and will be publicly performed in Hong Kong for its Asian premiere.
This programme is recommended for ages 12 and above. It contains strobe effects, which may affect photosensitive viewers. Please note.
Recirquel is a pioneer in the international performing arts scene, presenting over 300 shows annually and touring across major festivals and renowned theatres in Europe and the Americas. In 2024, the company made its Asian debut at the Busan International Dance Festival.
